About My Client

I'm working with a highly respected multi‑disciplinary property and planning consultancy operating across the South East. The business has an excellent reputation for delivering high‑quality planning advice across a broad range of residential, commercial, leisure and rural projects. They are a progressive, employee‑owned organisation, meaning staff directly benefit from the success of the business through a trust structure and discretionary bonus schemes.

The culture is collaborative, professional and people‑focused, with genuine emphasis on work/life balance, career development and long‑term retention. Following a recent internal promotion, the team is now looking to appoint an additional Senior Town Planner to strengthen the planning function and support continued growth.

The Role

This is a well‑rounded Senior Planner position offering real autonomy, responsibility and variety. You'll manage your own caseload of planning projects from start to finish, acting as a key point of contact for clients while working closely with experienced colleagues across the wider business. Projects range from larger residential, commercial and leisure developments through to smaller, often complex rural schemes – offering excellent technical exposure and day‑to‑day variety.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Managing your own portfolio of planning projects and client relationships
  • Preparing and submitting planning applications and appeals
  • Drafting Planning Statements, Appeal Statements, Local Plan representations and appraisals
  • Advising clients on planning strategy and development potential
  • Negotiating with local authorities and stakeholders
  • Coordinating input from other professional disciplines
  • Supporting and contributing to fee proposals and tenders
  • Helping to generate new work through strong client and contact relationships
What You'll Need
  • Degree in Town Planning or a related discipline (RTPI accredited)
  • Chartered RTPI membership
  • Minimum 2+ years' experience in development planning or development management
  • Strong technical planning knowledge and understanding of current policy
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Confident managing projects independently while working collaboratively
  • Commercially aware, proactive and well organised
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a car
What's on Offer
  • £38,000 - £42,000 basic salary (DOE)
  • Annual discretionary bonus
  • Second discretionary bonus via the Employee Ownership Trust
  • Hybrid working available (role and application dependent)
  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
  • Life insurance, pension and mileage allowance
  • Supportive, professional team environment
  • Clear long‑term career development within an employee‑owned business
