Senior Planner | Employee-Owned Property Consultancy | West Sussex

Are you a Senior Planner with private sector experience looking for a role where you can truly take ownership of your projects, build meaningful client relationships, and enjoy a supportive, forward-thinking working environment?

About:

My client is a leading firm of Estate and Letting Agents, Chartered Surveyors, and Chartered Town Planners, providing a diverse range of professional property services across Kent, Surrey, and Sussex.

With five strategically located offices and a strong regional presence, the business is proud to be a progressive employee‑owned company, combining traditional values with a modern, collaborative culture. Staff are genuinely supported, professionally developed, and encouraged to maintain a healthy work/life balance.

The planning team works on a broad mix of projects, from major residential, commercial, and leisure developments to smaller, interesting rural schemes—ensuring no two days are ever the same.

The Role:

Due to continued growth, the business is seeking a Senior Planner to join its established and experienced team, based from the Pulborough office.

This is a rare opportunity to lead planning projects from start to finish, managing your own caseload and client relationships rather than operating in a purely support role. You will be trusted to shape planning strategies, negotiate with local authorities, and deliver positive outcomes, with access to expertise across the wider business.

Key Requirements:
  • Degree in Planning or a related discipline accredited by the Royal Town Planning Institute
  • Chartered Member of the RTPI
  • Relevant experience in development planning or development management (ideally private sector)
  • Strong technical knowledge and understanding of current planning policy and practice
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Confident managing projects independently while working collaboratively
  • Proactive, organised, and commercially aware approach
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a car
  • Permanent right to work in the UK
What the Role Offers:
  • Competitive salary dependent on experience
  • Discretionary bonus scheme
  • Permanent, full-time position (9:00am‑5:30pm)
  • Hybrid working and flexibility available
  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
  • Workplace pension and life insurance
  • Mileage allowance
  • Supportive, collaborative team environment
  • Clear career development opportunities and access to wider professional expertise
  • Regular social events and a genuinely positive workplace culture
What Next?
