To support the Team Lead to develop and implement a local strategy for user-led self-management courses, in line with local service specification and national agendas, ensuring the delivery of a high-quality service.

To support with the operational management and delivery of the service. To provide operational leadership to ensure a motivated and dedicated workforce (staff and volunteers).

To contribute to the Trust agenda as a member of the management team.

The post holder will also be expected to identify training needs for volunteer tutors and facilitate its delivery as appropriate in collaboration with the Team Lead and other LWP Trainers.

Main duties of the job

Support the Team Lead to Provide operational management and leadership to ensure the delivery of safe, high quality and effective service.

The post holder will deputise for the Team Lead in managing the defined area with minimal supervision for daily operations, seeking support and guidance from the Deputy Operational Head of Service and/or Operational Head of Service as required.

Support to develop a coordinated and efficient team ensuring that communication and engagement are key to the development of the service.

Cultivate supportive and productive relationships with General Practice, secondary care, and local authority colleagues to promote the Living Well Programme.

Work towards proactive excellence rather than reactive management in service delivery: assisting to identify gaps within the service and reducing locality health inequalities.

Use excellent communication skills to enable facilitation and or negotiation of complex and sensitive information.

In conjunction with the Team Lead translate and take account of the impact of local national and other external policies and guidance for the defined area and support with implementing these into practice and service delivery.

Responsibility for the ongoing planning and organisation or a broad range of LWP activities, including the course programme and training events, which will require formulation, regular review and adjustment of plans.

Job responsibilities
  • Assist with completion all necessary payroll (e.g. Healthroster, EPRF, travel, assignment changes forms) within specified time frames.
  • Be involved in the selection and recruitment of staff.
  • Conduct staff appraisals and supervisions, identifying development needs and to monitor performance.
  • Support with staff performance management and elevate issues to the Team Lead where performance levels are below that expected for the staff members role
  • Support with managing disciplinary issues working with HR and in line with Trust policy and procedure.
  • To assist with managing staff sickness absence in accordance with Trust policy to achieve the identified Trust and locality target.
  • In collaboration with the Team Lead ensure sufficient resources are available on a daily basis to deliver the daily levels of service activity.
  • Support with producing staff rotas and managing annual leave ensuring activity can be managed within established resources.
  • To manage risk and work with the Team Lead and team members to find solutions during periods of increased pressure on the service.
  • To manage own workload and support team members in coping with complexity and a high-volume workload.
  • Identify staff training needs and liaise with the Team Lead to ensure that staff develop and maintain the required skills to deliver a high-quality service.
