Primary Duties & Responsibilities
New product development – 70%
- Electrical design throughout feasibility study, solution simulation and verification, schematic creating, BOM management, PCBA bring-up, function verification test including signal integrity check for key signals and generate test report.
- Working with manufacturing team to develop manufacturing electrical functional tests.
- Customer technical support.
- Work with NPI and Test Eng teams to transfer design to manufacture.
- RMA investigations and implementation of corrective actions
- Handle part EOL or part shortage in mass production, suggest alternative part, do verification and ECO to introduction the parts.
- Improving product density is a key mandate. To that end:
- Identify technologies to reduce product power consumption
- Identify technologies to reduce required pcba area
- Coach junior hardware engineers
- B.Sc. degree or above in electronics engineering, telecommunication
- 8+ years of board-level or system-level hardware design experience in the telecommunications or embedded systems.
- Proven expertise in high-speed digital circuit design, with hands-on experience developing telecom line cards.
- Strong skills in analog circuit simulation and practical implementation.
- Experience in designing high sensitivity optical signal detection circuits.
- Solid background in FPGA-based control system circuit design, including interface and logic integration.
- Experience with EDFA (Erbium-Doped Fiber Amplifier), OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer), or OCM (Optical Channel Monitor) products is a strong plus.
- Familiar with hardware circuit design tools such as Orcad and Cadence Allegro
- Deep understanding of hardware design and engineering process (PCB and PCBA) and quality control is required
- Strong communication skills and experience working in cross-cultural and global team environments.
- Excellent teamwork, self-motivated and responsible.
- May require occasional off-site meetings or travel
- Regular use of a computer and other office equipment is necessary
- Interaction with team members and external contacts is a regular part of the job
- May require occasional overtime and flexibility in work hours to accommodate the executive’s needs
- Sitting for extended periods while working on a computer or conducting meetings.
- Use of hands and fingers for typing, writing, and handling documents.
- Occasional lifting of objects or materials up pounds for administrative tasks.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
- Mobility within the office environment to attend meetings

Job Summary:
The hardware engineer is the electrical design prime for optical communication products. Ownership spans product concept phase, detailed design, and Test and Manufacturing support. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to customer specification response, electrical design and schematic creation, provide PCBA layout constraints, documentation, DVT testing, RMA evaluation and manufacturing support.
