The Processing Team Lead plays a dual role in driving the efficiency, accuracy, and consistency of mortgage loan processing operations. This position maintains a small pipeline of loans to stay actively engaged in day-to-day processing while also serving as a subject matter expert and peer resource for the team. The Team Lead provides guidance, mentoring, and workflow coordination, acting as the first point of contact for escalations and complex loan scenarios.

While not responsible for direct supervision, this role supports team performance through advanced knowledge, process leadership, and a strong focus on compliance, quality, and customer service.

This remote role offers a competitive pay range of $28.85 to $31.73 per hour, monthly commission, medical benefits starting on day one, and a company-matched 401(k).

• Act as a first point of contact for Processors with questions on policies, procedures, and system navigation.
• Maintain a personal pipeline of mortgage loan files, ensuring files progress accurately and efficiently from application through closing.
• Verify that all required documents and conditions are satisfied and obtain final Underwriting approval.
• Review complex loan files for accuracy and compliance with regulatory, investor, and Service Level Agreements (SLA).
• Provide informal mentoring, coaching, and knowledge-sharing to strengthen team capability and consistency.
• Serve as a quality check for complex or escalated loan scenarios.
• Verify loan documentation for completeness and compliance with agency and company guidelines.
• Communicate with Sales, Underwriting, borrowers, and third parties to obtain and validate necessary information.
• Conduct regular quality reviews and audits of loan files to ensure completeness and adherence to company and regulatory standards.
• Support Processing Managers with the development and implementation of process improvement initiatives to drive efficiency and customer satisfaction.
• Serve as a subject matter expert on current process workflows, including reviewing and providing updates to processors on new process enhancements and policy and procedure updates.
• Coordinate with Underwriting, Closing, Compliance, and other operational support teams to ensure a seamless loan process.
• Support onboarding and training of new processors by sharing subject matter expertise, conducting process walkthroughs, and reinforcing best practices.

• High school diploma or equivalent required;
  Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 4+ years of experience in mortgage processing;
  Prior experience in a Senior Processor or Team Lead capacity preferred.
• Up-to-date knowledge of mortgage products, regulatory guidelines, and investor requirements (Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA, etc.).
• Strong knowledge of conventional and government loan programs and processing procedures.
• Familiarity with Encompass, Blend, or other mortgage loan origination systems.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Proven ability to be a mentor or act in a lead capacity.
• Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to quality and compliance.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
