Position Overview
Brady
PLUS is seeking an Accounting Manager to execute key accounting functions and ensure compliance with regulatory, audit, and internal control standards across the organization. The role supports a high-volume national distribution business and will play a critical role in maintaining the integrity of financial reporting, facilitating external audits, and ensuring Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance. The Accounting Manager will lead the monthly close process, manage general ledger activities, calculate sales commissions, and perform banking and treasury functions.
Responsibilities
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities, including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial statements in accordance with GAAP and internal reporting deadlines.
- Support external financial audits and coordinate with Ernst & Young (EY) to provide schedules, explanations, and documentation as required.
- Maintain and test internal controls to ensure ongoing SOX compliance; identify and remediate control deficiencies as needed.
- Prepare, review, and process complex journal entries related to accruals, reserves, and adjustments.
- Oversee and validate sales commission calculations for commission-based personnel, ensuring alignment with compensation plans and policy.
- Manage banking responsibilities, including daily cash reporting, reconciliations, and support for wire transfers or cash movement as directed.
- Assist with financial analysis, forecasting, and special projects to support strategic initiatives.
- Collaborate with management to improve processes, enhance internal controls, and drive accounting efficiency.
- Maintain documentation of accounting policies, procedures, and control narratives to support audit readiness.
- Ensure compliance with Company policies, GAAP, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- CPA or progress toward CPA certification strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience in a corporate or public accounting environment.
- Experience in SOX compliance and coordinating with external auditors (Big Four experience a plus).
- Advanced understanding of GAAP and internal control frameworks.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or Net Suite).
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and analytical thinking.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Occasional overtime or extended hours required during audit cycles or monthly close.
