Visitor Services Cashier – Garvan Woodland Gardens
Location:
University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. The position is in the Visitor Services Department at Garvan Woodland Gardens, a 210‑acre botanical garden located in Hot Springs, AR.
We are seeking a positive, motivated, and personable team member to serve as a Visitor Services Cashier. The role involves greeting guests, checking them in, handling cash transactions, balancing the point‑of‑sale system at closing, and occasionally giving golf‑cart tours and explaining the garden spaces as a guest docent. The position is part‑time, up to 32 hours a week, including weekends and nights during Holiday Lights (mid‑November through December 31), and is temporary with a maximum of 1,250 hours per the University policy.
Responsibilities- Greet guests and provide a friendly, welcoming experience.
- Check in guests at the entrance, verify tickets and provide information.
- Accept payments and process transactions accurately using the point‑of‑sale system.
- Balance cash drawer and complete end‑of‑day reconciliation.
- Provide tourist tours by driving a golf cart and giving scripted explanations of garden spaces (guest docent duties).
- Maintain a clean, organized work area and adhere to safety and quality standards.
- Work well with other staff members, fostering positive guest experience.
- Attend scheduled shifts, including nights and weekends during peak seasons.
- High‑school diploma or equivalent.
- Customer‑service experience.
- Valid driver's license.
- Experience collecting money for payment or handling cash.
- Familiarity with point‑of‑sale systems and balancing transactions.
$13.00 – $15.00 per hour.
