Garvan Woodland Gardens, a 210‑acre botanical garden situated on a peninsula surrounded by scenic Lake Hamilton located in Hot Springs, AR, is seeking a skilled and dedicated Building Maintenance Technician.

The Assist Garden Operations Manager and Sr. Manager of Design and Display in monitoring condition of buildings, irrigation/pumping systems, and infrastructure, reporting issues that need repair or upgrades, and performing or assisting in the performance of maintenance, repair, and construction work involving skills in electrical, carpentry, painting, plumbing/irrigation, and small engine maintenance/repair. Assist in FAMIS Tool Crib. Run errands and other duties as assigned.

Part‑time, up to 32 hours a week, including weekends and nights during Holiday Lights (mid‑November thru Dec 31). Building Maintenance Technician is a part‑time, temporary position limited to the 1250‑hour University of Arkansas policy. The campus is a non‑smoking facility. This position requires a valid driver’s license. Some night and weekend work will be required seasonally. Regular, reliable, and non‑disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or the formal education equivalent of a high school diploma
  • At least five years of experience working in a Skilled Trade, such as plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, mechanical repair, etc.
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Must be able to lift 30 pounds
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a public setting
  • Journeyman carpentry skills, plumbing skills, experience working in a landscape setting such as garden, golf course, or similar setting.
  • At least two years of experience building and/or repairing irrigation systems.
  • At least two years of experience working on small engines
Additional Information Salary Information

$13 – $15 per hour
