Summary of

Job Duties

Garvan Woodland Gardens, one of the top attractions in Arkansas, is hiring a part‑time, temporary Building Maintenance Technician (up to 32 hours a week, including weekends and nights during Holiday Lights). The role involves monitoring building conditions, irrigation/pumping systems, and infrastructure, reporting repairs or upgrades, and performing maintenance, repair, and construction work involving electrical, carpentry, painting, plumbing/irrigation, and small engine maintenance/repair.

Run errands and assist in FAMIS Tool Crib. Valid driver’s license required. Night and weekend work may be required seasonally.

Responsibilities
  • Assist Garden Operations Manager and Sr. Manager of Design and Display in monitoring building and infrastructure condition.
  • Report issues that need repair or upgrades.
  • Perform or assist in maintenance, repair, and construction work involving skills in electrical, carpentry, painting, plumbing/irrigation, and small engine maintenance/repair.
  • Run errands and other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain regular, reliable, and non‑disruptive attendance and foster collegial relationships.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least five years of experience in a skilled trade (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, mechanical repair, etc.).
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to lift 30 pounds.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience working in a public setting.
  • Journeyman carpentry skills, plumbing skills, experience in a landscape setting (garden, golf course, or similar).
  • At least two years of experience building and/or repairing irrigation systems.
  • At least two years of experience working on small engines.
Salary Information

$13 - $15 per hour
