Overview
Contract Period:
From 2 Mar 2026 to 28 Feb 2027.
Personnel to be deployed at the following hours:
- Monday to Friday: 12 p.m.
- 5 p.m. - For school holidays, personnel will be informed by the Vice-Principal and will be required to report for duty to organise and support holiday programmes.
- Service not required on Saturdays, Sundays and gazetted public holidays.
- The exact working schedule will be confirmed by the school upon award of contract.
- Personnel will be notified by the Vice-Principal if there is a need to report for work for additional ad-hoc sessions, giving at least 48 hours notice.
Total estimated 875 hours
Job Scopes- Programme Development and Planning:
- Design and implement a regular after-school engagement programme during term time and school holidays for students who need greater after-school supervision and support (known as the SPACE Crew), utilising the affordances of the SPACE Room to promote a sense of self- and peer-leadership and to foster a sense of school connectedness and belonging. This includes:
- Co-creating engaging and developmentally-appropriate activities with students that cater to the diverse interests and needs of students.
- Developing a schedule that balances academic, recreational, and skill-building activities.
- Maintaining an organised and well-equipped programme venue (SPACE room), ensuring the safety and well-being of all students participating in the programme.
- Establishing and enforcing behavioural expectations and discipline policies.
- Working closely with school staff to ensure seamless coordination between the after-school programme.
- Close communication with key personnel involved in GEAR-UP regarding programmes, student progress, and student concerns.
- Mentoring and Guidance:
- Foster a sense of belonging and inclusivity among students by building positive relationships with students and among students.
- Following up with student absences.
- Regular conversations with students and identify issues affecting them and how their needs can be met.
- Emotional support for students who may need assistance with personal or academic challenges during and after school.
- Other duties:
- As required by school due to exigencies of service, including monitoring student safety and well-being during school programmes and activities.
- Qualifications:
- Degree / Relevant experience in GEAR-UP youth work.
- Skill &
Experience:- Possess skills related to programme planning and implementation, rapport building, effective interpersonal interactions and problem-solving.
- Preferably have at least 3 years of experience working in a secondary school environment.
- Prior experience in working with at-risk students and/or students with additional needs.
- Experience in designing, planning and facilitating group guidance programmes for at-risk students and/or students with additional needs during term time and school holidays.
