Duties and Responsibilities- Maintain performance standards and pursue goals, objectives and activities that promote the mission, vision and values of the College.
- Attend and provide meaningful instruction for all classes/modules during the semester/session; be punctual and provide instruction for the complete class period.
- Develop, distribute and post course syllabi prior to the start of class in accordance with the Course Management System and approved master syllabi.
- Maintain accurate attendance, progress and evaluation records and submit to the department head or appropriate supervisor at the end of each semester/session.
- Adhere to all timelines established by the College for submissions, grade rosters, reporting, and communications.
- Provide classroom instruction in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, College harassment policies and other legal requirements.
- Advise and mentor students on course progress and retention; refer students at risk to advising or counseling.
- Share ideas and information, and work toward common department and College goals.
- Actively promote a culture of mutual respect for students, guests and co‑workers.
- Complete all academic and occupational credential requirements defined by LCTCS Board policies, procedures and accrediting agency requirements.
- Be available to students via phone or email to assist with assignment questions within 24 hours on workdays and 48 hours on weekends.
- Participate in professional development activities that enhance effectiveness.
- Represent the College in a manner that promotes a professional and positive image.
- Embrace College culture and adhere to College and LCTCS policies.
- Complete all required assignments prior to deadlines.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Specific Duties
- Evaluate present clinical facilities and meet with agency personnel to review objectives of clinical experiences.
- Supervise students in the clinical area and assist students to develop critical thinking skills; may involve out‑of‑town travel (mileage reimbursed per Louisiana Travel Policy).
- May include evening or weekend instruction.
- Provide meaningful instruction in a simulation lab setting (if applicable).
A master’s degree in nursing from a regionally accredited college or university.
Required Experience- Minimum two years of nursing practice as a registered nurse in a clinical setting.
- For specialty areas such as OB/PEDS or MH, experience in those areas required.
- Teaching experience at the college level desired.
Skills and Abilities
Good instructional techniques; computer knowledge; student‑centered attitude; strong organization.
Required Licenses or CertificationsA current, unencumbered Louisiana RN license.
