POSITION OVERVIEWWe are seeking a dedicated FCAW/SMAW Tack Welder with at least 3 months of tack welding experience. The candidate will provide essential support to ship fitters by assisting with tacking, grinding, and other welding-related duties as directed. This role requires the ability to perform tack-welding tasks in various positions and to work safely and efficiently in a shipyard environment.
REQUIREMENTS- Minimum of 3 months of experience in tack welding
- Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in SMAW and/or FCAW tack welding by passing a hands-on T-join test in the vertical and overhead positions
- Familiarity with basic welding and fitting processes is preferred
- Experience with tack welding processes is a plus
- Assist ship fitters with tacking, grinding, and other tack-welding related tasks
- Perform SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) and/or FCAW (Fluxcore) tack welding of T-joints in vertical and overhead positions, with the vertical position welded using downhill progression
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment by following all safety guidelines and protocols
