Overview

Ochsner Health is seeking a registered nurse for an 8-week assignment. Acts as a leader in patient care using the nursing process within the Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code for Nurses and Scope & Standards of Practice. Effectively delegates, directs, and assists licensed and ancillary team members; assumes accountability for quality patient outcomes; demonstrates professional responsibility and accountability for own practice and supports the company's philosophy of nursing.

• Use the nursing process in the delivery of patient care.
• Assess learning needs and implement teaching strategies for patients, families, and other groups or disciplines.
• Communicate, delegate, and manage nursing team resources; serve as a leader and partner on the interdisciplinary team.
• Use data, information, and knowledge to evaluate and promote change to achieve optimal outcomes.
• Support customer satisfaction and employee morale and advancement in the profession of nursing.
• Adapt care to the specific patient population, respecting privacy and communication preferences.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

• Education:
  
  Required – Graduate of an accredited school of nursing;
  Preferred – Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
• Work Experience:
  
  Required – 1 year of experience as a registered nurse.
• Certifications:
  
  Required – Current RN license; BLS certification;
  Preferred – specialty certification.
• Knowledge
  
  Skills and Abilities
  
  (KSAs):
  Effective verbal and written communication; computer proficiency; good judgment; strong interpersonal skills.

Heavy Work – Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds constantly to move objects. Exposure to blood, body fluids, and tissue. Potential occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous medications or waste in a healthcare setting.
