Permanent preferred | Freelance considered (£500 per day CIS)
Hybrid Working: 4 days office/site | 1 day home
The OpportunityWe're working with a well-established Tier 1 Civil Engineering contractor that has secured a significant pipeline of long‑term infrastructure work across the South West. Due to continued growth, they're looking to appoint a Managing Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team. This opportunity would suit an experienced Managing Quantity Surveyor or a Senior Quantity Surveyor who's ready to take the next step.
The long‑term plan is to recruit permanently, however the business understands how challenging the current market is and is happy to consider experienced freelance professionals on a CIS basis, with the opportunity to move into a permanent role if that's something you'd be interested in. You'll be joining a busy commercial team delivering major infrastructure projects under NEC contracts, with long‑term secured work and genuine opportunities to progress.
You will be responsible for the commercial management of major civil engineering and infrastructure projects, working closely with the Commercial Manager, operational teams and clients to ensure successful project delivery.
- Managing the commercial performance of infrastructure projects
- NEC3 and NEC4 contract administration
- Cost reporting, forecasting and commercial management
- Managing valuations, compensation events, variations and final accounts
- Procurement and subcontract management
- Building strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders
- Supporting and mentoring junior commercial staff
- Identifying commercial risks and opportunities throughout project delivery
- Quantity Surveying experience within civil engineering, utilities or infrastructure
- Strong NEC3 or NEC4 contract knowledge
- Experience with cost reporting, forecasting and commercial management
- Good client-facing and stakeholder management skills
- Managing Quantity Surveyors or ambitious Senior Quantity Surveyors looking to make the step up are encouraged to apply
- £70,000 - £85,000 plus package
