You’ll be stepping in to keep lessons running smoothly when teachers are away. Think of it as being the steady hand in the room—keeping pupils engaged, following set plans, and making sure learning doesn’t skip a beat.
YOU MUST HOLD STRONG BEHAVIOUR MANAGEMENT & HOLD STRONG POSITIVE CLASSROOM PRESENCE
Responsibilities- Supervise entire classes in the absence of their regular teacher. (Secondary mainstream students 11-16 years)
- Support students in completing the work set, ensuring effective learning.
- Manage classroom behaviour to maintain focus and discipline.
- Ensure that students follow instructions and stay on task with the work assigned.
- Be punctual and start lessons on time.
- Register students promptly using the school’s electronic system and address punctuality and attendance.
- Explain and project the assigned work clearly, write it on the board, and distribute necessary resources.
- Maintain high standards of work and encourage students to complete their tasks.
- Ensure that students do not leave the classroom without a valid reason and issue out-of-class passes if required.
- Ensure the classroom is tidy and litter-free at the beginning and end of each lesson.
- Enforce the school’s Behaviour for Learning Policy, addressing behavioural issues using the appropriate school procedures.
- Use school systems to remove disruptive students from the learning environment when required.
- Ensure students are dismissed properly at the end of the lesson, leaving the classroom only after the supervisor.
- Tidy up the classroom, clean the board, and ensure the interactive whiteboard is turned off at the end of the lesson.
- Undertake form registration for absent form tutors and supervise students during form time, fulfilling duties in the absence of the form tutor.

Benefits and Other InformationAll pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
