SEMH Teaching Assistant – Flexible short-term and long-term opportunities available immediately

These flexible opportunities are ideal for support staff who enjoy variety and want to make a positive impact across different school settings. You will be supporting pupils in Hounslow and the surrounding areas, helping them develop emotional regulation, confidence, and positive learning behaviours.

Duties as SEMH Teaching Assistant:
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs
  • Assist teachers in delivering adapted and engaging learning activities
  • Help implement personalised behaviour support plans and emotional regulation strategies
  • Promote positive communication, resilience, and constructive relationships
  • Support pupils in managing challenging behaviours in line with school policies
  • Encourage participation, independence, and improved self-esteem
  • Monitor pupil progress and share observations with relevant staff
  • Contribute to wider school life during longer-term placements
Ideal SEMH Teaching Assistant:
  • Previous experience supporting pupils with SEMH needs
  • Strong understanding of de-escalation strategies and behaviour management
  • Calm, patient, and empathetic approach
  • Ability to build strong, trusting relationships with pupils
  • Adaptable across different key stages and learning environments
  • Professional, proactive, and a reliable team member
  • Good communication and collaboration skills
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare
