About the Role

As a Secondary Tutor, you'll deliver high-quality, flexible education programmes for secondary-aged and post-16 learners with SEND.

You'll work closely with young people, families, schools, colleges and partner agencies to provide personalised learning that meets individual needs while promoting engagement, achievement and successful progression.

You'll also contribute to curriculum development, quality improvement initiatives and the ongoing evaluation of learner outcomes.

Your Responsibilities

Plan and deliver engaging, personalised SEND learning programmes
Adapt teaching to meet a wide range of learning needs and EHCP outcomes
Build positive relationships with young people and their families
Monitor learner progress and maintain accurate records
Work collaboratively with schools, colleges and external professionals
Participate in reviews, multi-agency meetings and planning discussions
Support learners to overcome barriers to education and achieve positive outcomes
Contribute to curriculum development and continuous service improvement
Promote safeguarding, inclusion and learner wellbeing in all aspects of your practice

Essential Requirements

βœ” PGCE, QTS, Level 6 Diploma in Education and Training, or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification

βœ” Experience teaching secondary-aged and/or post-16 learners with SEND

βœ” Strong understanding of a range of SEND teaching strategies

βœ” Experience adapting curriculum to meet individual learner needs

βœ” Ability to build effective relationships with young people, families and professionals

βœ” Experience working collaboratively with schools, colleges and multi-agency partners

βœ” Strong communication, organisation and record-keeping skills

βœ” Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and improving outcomes for young people

Desirable

Experience working within Local Authority services
Knowledge of EHCP processes and annual reviews
Experience supporting learners in mainstream, specialist or alternative provision settings
Understanding of transition planning into further education, employment and independent living
Experience contributing to curriculum development and quality improvement initiatives
