Let your originality soar
As the nation’s flag carrier, we take great pride in connecting Britain with the world and the world with Britain.
It’s something we’ve been doing for over 100 years, ever since we launched the world’s first international scheduled air service between London and Paris.
Since then, British Airways has gone on to deliver game-changing achievements. First we broke the record for the fastest transatlantic flight with Concorde. Then we became the very first airline to introduce fully lie-flat seats on board.
It was our exceptional engineering teams that brought these pioneering and original ideas to life.
This is your chance to join one of the most diverse and innovative departments at British Airways, at a time when we’re re-imagining the way we fly the skies.
The role:Technical Engineer – Predictive Maintenance Group (TSG)
This role is Mon-Fri Office Based
We are looking to recruit highly motivated candidates that will be joining our Predictive Maintenance Team (TSG) within the Engineering organisation. The Technical Engineer within the Predictive Maintenance Group will be responsible for developing and delivering predictive and proactive maintenance solutions that improve aircraft reliability, reduce operational disruption, and increase maintenance effectiveness across the fleet.
The Technical Engineer within the Predictive Maintenance Group will be responsible for continuously monitoring aircraft health, reliability, and operational performance data to identify emerging defects before they impact operations. Using predictive maintenance platforms, aircraft health monitoring systems, OEM diagnostic tools, and fleet trend data, the engineer will assess prognostic alerts, investigate abnormal system behaviour, and determine appropriate engineering actions to prevent in-service failures.
This includes developing maintenance recommendations, validating predictive findings, and supporting the evolution of predictive algorithms and alert logic to improve fleet reliability and maintenance effectiveness.
Working closely with Technical Support Group, Planning, Production, Maintrol, Supply Chain, and OEMs, the engineer will drive the delivery of proactive maintenance activities generated through predictive monitoring. The role involves converting predictive insights into planned maintenance actions, developing troubleshooting and inspection requirements, managing proactive work packages, and ensuring timely interventions are incorporated into operational maintenance opportunities. The engineer will monitor the effectiveness of these actions, verify the recovery of adverse trends, and support continuous improvements that reduce technical delays, cancellations, aircraft on ground (AOG) events, and operational disruption.
The successful engineer will also contribute to the development and implementation of innovative predictive maintenance capabilities across the fleet. This includes supporting programmes such as PRISM, participating in data analytics and reliability improvement initiatives, developing performance dashboards and reporting tools, and collaborating with engineering and operational stakeholders to embed a proactive maintenance culture. Through detailed technical investigations, root cause analysis, and fleet performance reviews, the engineer will help shape future maintenance strategies, improve asset reliability, and enhance overall operational resilience across the airline's fleet.
WhatYou’ll Do
- Monitor aircraft health monitoring systems, predictive maintenance platforms, and operational data to identify emerging defects and reliability risks before they affect operations.
- Analyse predictive alerts, fault trends, system degradation, and technical events to determine appropriate engineering actions and maintenance interventions.
- Develop and manage proactive maintenance work packages, inspections, troubleshooting activities, and D7 instructions arising from predictive findings.
- Support fleet reliability improvement initiatives through trend analysis, repeat defect identification, and implementation of preventative maintenance strategies.
- Conduct technical investigations and root…
