Personal Tax Manager/Senior Manager - Private Client Services About the Role
Our client, a well-established traditional accountancy firm in North West London, is seeking an experienced Personal Tax Manager to join their Private Client Services team. This is primarily a compliance-focused role with opportunities for ad-hoc advisory work, serving Ultra High Net Worth Individuals (UHNWI), High Net Worth Individuals (HNWI), and a diverse portfolio of sophisticated private clients.
Key Responsibilities Tax Compliance & Advisory- Lead comprehensive personal tax compliance for UHNWI/HNWI clients with complex multi-jurisdictional affairs
- Prepare, review and file Self-Assessment returns, including sophisticated schedules for employment, self-employment, property, investments, and overseas income
- Manage compliance deadlines and maintain detailed client records and files
- Handle compliance for non-domiciled individuals including remittance basis elections and calculations
- Provide ad-hoc advisory support on immediate tax queries and compliance issues
- Support with Capital Gains Tax compliance and optimisation opportunities as they arise
- Assist with Inheritance Tax compliance matters and basic planning queries
- Prepare correspondence with HMRC and handle routine enquiries
- Manage day-to-day client relationships for a substantial portfolio of high-value private clients
- Maintain regular contact with clients throughout compliance periods
- Handle routine client queries and provide immediate responses on compliance matters
- Coordinate information gathering from clients, family offices, and professional advisors
- Escalate complex advisory matters to Partners while managing client expectations
- Provide clear explanations of compliance requirements and deadlines to clients
- Stay current with tax legislation changes affecting private clients
- Research complex technical issues and provide authoritative advice
- Review work of junior team members and provide technical guidance
- Contribute to firm's technical knowledge base and training programmes
- Support Partners in client meetings and compliance reviews
- Identify opportunities for additional compliance or advisory services within existing relationships
- Maintain detailed client notes and fee recovery records
- Contribute to the training and development of junior team members
- Support the team's workflow management and resource planning
- Professional Qualification
: ACA, ACCA, CTA, or ATT (CTA preferred) - Experience
:
Minimum 5-7 years in personal tax, with at least 3 years focused on HNWI/UHNWI clients
- Advanced understanding of UK personal taxation
- Experience with non-domiciled individual taxation
- Knowledge of trust and estate planning
- International tax experience, particularly US/UK, Middle East, or European jurisdictions
- Familiarity with offshore structures and jurisdictions
