Help Resourcing Limited works with an award winning, family‑run retail company that sells building, electrical, plumbing and DIY products to the construction industry. The company has stores in London and Hertfordshire, 280 staff, and a modern head office.

Working with the purchasing director, buyer and the wider commercial and procurement team, the buyer will lead and support a wide range of procurement tasks, manage and own a specific category, and assist the business as a whole. The role will involve management of current suppliers, their stock profiles, cost price file, researching new and existing suppliers and presenting findings to the business.

• A sound knowledge and understanding of the builder’s merchant industry.
• A sound commercial understanding of cost and margin management.
• A sound knowledge of Microsoft applications (Word and Excel as a minimum).
• Ability to establish good working relationships with supplier partners.
• Ability to interact with both internal and external colleagues.
• Good personal organisational skills, displaying ability to prioritise between multiple competing tasks.
• Understanding of the importance of meeting deadlines.
• Demonstrates initiative and is capable of working alone when required.
• Good communication skills, both written and oral.

• Managing supplier accounts, stock profiles and relationships.
• Managing stock levels and dead/aged stock.
• Establishing relationships with supplier peers.
• Supporting internal team with current and new workload and projects.
• Researching and using existing data to assist decision/suggestion making.
• Researching the external market to assist decision/suggestion making.
• Evaluating suppliers’ offerings and comparing with current/similar ranges.
• Presenting findings and recommendations in a clear and concise manner.
• Monitoring own projects and reporting periodically on performance.

• Salary up to £40,000 depending on experience (Junior buyers £25-30k).
• Monday to Friday 8.30-5.30.
