Position: Staff Nurse - Medicine and Acute Assessment Unit (AAU) Ward (Perm)

Job Title: Staff Nurse (Medical Ward)

Location: Cromwell Hospital, 164-178 Cromwell Rd, London (SW5 0TU
)

Contract Type: Full time – 37.5 hours per week (12‑hour shifts, days and nights)

Job Overview

As a Staff Nurse you will work as part of a close‑knit team delivering high standard patient‑focused care within the 33‑bed medical ward that includes Neuro and Cardiac patients.

Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, deliver and evaluate high standards of nursing care for patients.
  • Participate in the delivery of a consistent, safe service across the entire patient journey, demonstrating a culture of customer service.
  • Manage care of allocated patients and deputise for the Senior Staff Nurse in their absence.
  • Act as a clinical role model for all staff, driving high standards of care.
  • Recognise the need for DOL assessments, mental capacity assessment and safeguarding referrals, and highlight concerns.
  • Maintain working knowledge of emergency policies including cardiac arrest and fire.
  • Ensure correct storage and administration of medications per hospital policies and NMC Standards, and safe handling of drug keys.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with Consultants and follow individual consultant protocols.
  • Act as a Link Nurse in a designated area, reporting to and from meetings and training updates.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Registered General Nurse with valid NMC registration and PIN.
  • ILS qualification.
  • Experience in a medical ward within an acute hospital.
  • Competent in wound care, venepuncture, cannulation, tracheostomy tube care, indwelling urinary catheterisation, and nasogastric tube insertion.
  • Experience in risk assessment and immunisation training.
  • Previous staff nurse role or out‑patients experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
