• Experienced practitioner with proven competence in cardiac catheterisation and interventional radiology.
• Integral to emergency services, participating in an on‑call rota to support urgent cases.
• Flexible shift pattern: early shifts, late shifts, extended long days, occasional weekends.
• Provide skilled assistance to the anaesthetist during induction, maintenance, and emergence from anaesthesia – including preparation of airway devices, intubation assistance, securing invasive lines, and monitoring patient condition.
• Continuously observe patient vital signs and anaesthetic depth, responding promptly to changes or signs of distress.
• Prepare, check, and set up all anaesthetic equipment and medications prior to each procedure.
• Maintain stock of drugs and consumables, handling and administering medications, including controlled drugs, in line with hospital policies.
• Work in close collaboration with the Cath Lab multidisciplinary team – cardiologists, interventional radiologists, anaesthetists, cardiac physiologists, radiographers, and nursing staff – to ensure seamless, high‑quality patient care.
• Assist with pre‑procedure preparation, confirming patient assessment, consent, and readiness.
• Assist in safe transfer and positioning of patients onto the procedure table, protecting pressure areas and maintaining comfort.
• When procedures use local anaesthesia or conscious sedation, plan and deliver safe sedation and analgesia under agreed protocols.
• Continuously monitor level of consciousness, cardiorespiratory status, and comfort during sedated cases, intervening promptly if deeper sedation or adverse reactions occur.
• Document all observations and drug administration meticulously.
• Adhere strictly to infection prevention and control, radiation safety protocols, and decontamination standards.
• Maintain accurate and comprehensive clinical documentation, recording variances, complications, or changes in patient condition.
• Respond swiftly to intra‑procedure emergencies or patient deterioration; participate in resuscitation efforts per Advanced Life Support guidelines.
• Contribute to day‑to‑day running of Cath Lab lists, preparing necessary equipment and drugs and ensuring rapid turnover between cases.

• Current UK professional registration as either a Registered Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC) or a Registered Nurse (NMC).
• Diploma of Higher Education or BSc in Operating Department Practice, or BSc Nursing (or equivalent qualification) relevant to perioperative care.
• RN or equivalent ODP training certificate and anaesthetic course certification.
• Evidence of ongoing professional development in cardiology, radiology, pain management, or conscious sedation.
