Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced, reliable and professional Support Worker to join our supported accommodation service, providing practical support, guidance and a safe environment for vulnerable young people.

This role involves supporting young people with their daily routines, independence skills, emotional wellbeing, safety, appointments and positive activities. You will work in line with individual support plans, pathway plans and risk assessments, while maintaining accurate records and following safeguarding procedures at all times.

The successful candidate will already have experience working within the UK health and social care sector and will be confident supporting vulnerable individuals in a professional, person-centred and structured way.

Essential Requirements

Applicants must have:

- A minimum of 2 years’ recent experience in the UK health and social care sector.
- Relevant experience supporting vulnerable people in a care, support, residential, supported living or similar setting.
- The right to work in the UK without employer sponsorship.
- Availability to work full-time on a rota basis.
- No restriction limiting working hours to 20 hours per week.
- Good understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality and professional boundaries.
- Strong communication and record-keeping skills.
- The ability to remain calm, professional and reliable under pressure.

Applications from candidates without relevant UK-based care or support experience may not be progressed.

Desirable Requirements

The following would be beneficial but are not essential:

- NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Health and Social Care
- Experience working with young people, looked-after children, care leavers or unaccompanied asylum-seeking children
- Experience in supported accommodation or semi-independent living services
- Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle
- Knowledge of support plans, pathway plans and risk assessments

Key Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include:

- Providing a safe, welcoming and supportive environment for young people.
- Supporting young people in line with their individual needs, support plans and risk assessments.
- Helping young people build independence, confidence and positive daily routines.
- Supporting access to appointments, education, community services and activities.
- Promoting emotional wellbeing, positive behaviour and safe decision-making.
- Maintaining accurate daily notes, case records, incident forms and reports.
- Following safeguarding procedures and reporting concerns appropriately.
- Working professionally with colleagues, social workers, healthcare professionals and other external agencies.
- Supporting the smooth running of shifts, including sleep-in shifts or waking nights where required.
- Assisting with household duties and maintaining a clean, safe living environment.
- Following company policies, Health and Safety, COSHH, RIDDOR and safeguarding requirements.
- Attending staff meetings, supervision and training when required.
- Responding appropriately to incidents, emergencies and challenging situations.
- Maintaining professional boundaries and acting as a positive role model.

About You

We are looking for someone who is compassionate, responsible and confident working with vulnerable young people.

You will be reliable, patient and professional, with the ability to follow procedures, manage boundaries and communicate clearly with both young people and professionals. You should be comfortable working as part of a team and able to use your experience to support young people safely and effectively.
