Import Operator

We are recruiting for a company who deal with specialist freight forwarding and niche goods, they are looking for a bright, personable and experience import clerk to join their team.

• Manage the full process of import shipments from arrival to final delivery.
• Handle airfreight import documentation, including AWBs, invoices, packing lists, and certificates of origin.
• Coordinate with airlines, shipping lines, overseas agents, hauliers, and customers to ensure smooth cargo movement.
• Arrange customs clearance, working closely with internal or external customs brokers.
• Prepare and submit import entries.
• Track and monitor shipments, updating customers proactively on progress and resolving any issues or delays.
• Liaise with customers on shipment status, requirements, and any additional services needed.
• Raise files in the company freight management system, ensuring all costs and revenues are accurately recorded.
• Invoice files promptly and accurately in line with company policy.
• Support the team with sea and road import shipments when required.
• Ensure compliance with all HMRC and international trade regulations.
• Maintain and build good relationships with customers and suppliers.
• Experience in import operations.
• Strong knowledge of airfreight import procedures and documentation.
• Understanding of customs clearance processes.
