INSPYR Solutions is partnered with a growing, well-established company in the industrial services space that is seeking an Assistant Controller to join its finance and accounting team. This is a full-time,
onsite position (5 days/week) based in Northwest Houston
.
The Assistant Controller will work closely with the VP of Accounting and lead a small accounting team, helping to strengthen financial processes, ensure accuracy in reporting, and support ongoing growth initiatives.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger management, month-end and year-end close processes, and reconciliations
- Manage and mentor a small team of accounting staff, providing guidance, training, and performance oversight
- Collaborate closely with the VP of Accounting on financial strategy, process improvements, reporting, and compliance
- Prepare and review financial statements, management reports, and supporting schedules
- Ensure adherence to GAAP and company accounting policies
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Coordinate with external auditors and assist with annual audits
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes and strengthen internal controls
- Participate in special projects and operational initiatives as the company continues to scale
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CPA-track preferred
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory responsibility
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and month-end close
- Experience with in a multi-location or inventory-based business is a plus
- Proficiency with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational abilities
- Ability to work onsite daily and thrive in a collaborative environment
