Accounting Supervisor- CONTRACTOR, Houston, TX
The Corporate Accounting Supervisor is responsible for leading monthly close and financial reporting processes, including but not limited to our monthly revenue accruals, payroll and other compensation expense, and related reporting to management of financials in compliance with GAAP and Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) regulations. This role requires comprehensive knowledge of GAAP, SEC regulations, and internal controls, as well as strong management skills.
Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving abilities are also essential for effectively interpreting complex accounting matters and fostering continuous improvement in accounting operations.
- Lead the monthly revenue accrual process and coordinate with other department leads as necessary
- Detail review journal entries and related schedules prepared by other team members for compliance with GAAP prior to ledger posting
- Provide guidance and training as needed to the Senior and Staff Accountants, ensuring their professional development and proficiency in financial accounting and close processes
- Prepare workbooks and journal entries as required for other technical accounting areas, as assigned
- Assist the Manager, Corporate Accounting in the preparation of the monthly consolidated financial statements and supporting schedules including property roll forward, statements of equity and cash flows, earnings per unit, and management reporting packages
- Maintain the Corporate Accounting close calendar to inform parties of necessary deadline adherence for financial close and management package / review meeting
- Comply with all established SOX financial reporting controls
- Research and provide recommendations on technical accounting issues, supplying information and analysis to support the preparation of memorandums for management and external auditors
- Assist with internal and external audit requests
- Participate in special projects and initiatives as required
- Precise computation skills and rapid problem-solving ability
- Strong understanding of GAAP accounting and financial/operational understanding
- Highly developed knowledge and experience with Microsoft Excel
- Solid interpersonal communication skills and the ability to build relationships in a small team environment
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, majoring in Accounting
- CPA or CPA candidate with four (4) - six (6) years of public company or public accounting experience
- Experience in the oil & gas industry along with SOX compliance preferred
