THE ROLE
The Senior Accountant, Operations Accounting will support Next Decade’s commercial and operational activities by ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with U.S. GAAP, and effective accounting processes across LNG inventory, logistics, and cost of goods sold. This role will be instrumental in designing and implementing accounting workflows and systems—including ETRM, Marine Freight, and Inventory Reporting—while maintaining the integrity of accounting records for fixed assets, leases, and other operational transactions.
The Senior Accountant will partner cross‑functionally with IT, Commercial, and Operations teams, contribute to policy development, and support internal and external audits. This position is ideal for a hands‑on accounting professional with strong technical expertise and a drive to help build scalable processes in a dynamic, high‑growth environment.
- Participate in the design and implementation of various IT systems, including but not limited to the ETRM, Marine Freight System, and Inventory Reporting.
- Prepare, record, analyze and report accounting transactions and ensure the integrity of accounting records for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal policies.
- Support the design and implementation of accounting workflows for LNG inventory, logistics, and cost of goods sold.
- Maintain and reconcile fixed asset subledger and ensure proper capitalization and depreciation.
- Assist in developing and implementing accounting policies and procedures for new operational activities, including but not limited to lease accounting requirements under ASC 842.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules and responding to inquiries.
- Other accounting and special projects as requested.
- 3+ years in public accounting (Big 4 or equivalent) or 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
- Strong US GAAP knowledge
- Experience with ETRM systems (e.g., Endur/Open Link) and ERP platforms (e.g., SAP).
- Excellent communication and analytical skills.
- Strong critical thinking, interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
- Ability to effectively interact with senior management.
- CPA in good standing preferred.
- Experience in the energy, infrastructure, or related industry.
- Public accounting in Global 6 or LNG specific background is a big plus.
- Advanced Excel skills; familiarity with data analytics tools is a plus.
- Experience in a startup or high‑growth environment is a plus.
This position operates in a professional office environment with occasional work within or outside of a complex construction environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers/fax, filing cabinets, etc.
This is primarily a sedentary role; however, the incumbent must be able to stand and/or sit continuously to perform all essential job functions for a full shift.
