Job Title: Project Accountant – Construction/Retail

Location: Houston, TX

Salary: $85,000 – $95,000 annually

Position Summary:

The Project Accountant will be responsible for overseeing the accounting and financial reporting for multiple projects, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting. This role requires strong knowledge of construction or retail accounting, cost tracking, budgeting, and project billing. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage accounting for assigned projects, including job cost accounting, budget tracking, and expense allocation.
• Prepare and analyze monthly project financial reports and summaries.
• Monitor project budgets and forecasts, providing variance analysis and recommendations.
• Handle accounts payable and receivable for projects, ensuring timely invoicing and collections.
• Reconcile project-related accounts and resolve discrepancies.
• Coordinate with project managers, procurement, and operations teams to ensure financial accuracy.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and relevant accounting standards.
• Assist with audits and financial reviews as required.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in construction or retail project accounting preferred.
• Strong understanding of job costing, budgeting, and financial reporting.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Quick Books, Sage 300, Viewpoint, or similar).
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines efficiently.
