Our client, a publicly traded midstream energy company headquartered in Houston, is seeking an experienced accounting leader to oversee financial reporting, technical accounting, and internal control functions. This role plays a critical part in ensuring high-quality external reporting, strong governance, and consistent application of accounting standards across the organization.

This role serves as a key accounting advisor to the business, partnering closely with leadership to navigate complex accounting matters, regulatory requirements, and evolving standards. The ideal candidate will bring deep public company reporting experience, strong technical expertise, and a collaborative leadership style.

• Act as a trusted subject‑matter expert on technical accounting and internal controls for the organization
• Lead, coach, and develop teams responsible for financial reporting and general accounting
• Stay current on new and proposed accounting and regulatory guidance, including developments from the FASB, SEC, and FERC, and assess impacts to the company
• Oversee the design, maintenance, and enhancement of internal control documentation and frameworks
• Establish and maintain accounting policies, promoting consistency and standardization across all entities
• Prepare accounting position memos for complex, non‑routine, or emerging transactions
• Conduct and oversee accounting research to support business decisions and reporting conclusions
• Evaluate new business initiatives, contracts, and transactions for accounting implications
• Manage and support the preparation, review, and filing of external reports, including Forms 10‑K, 10‑Q, FERC filings, and standalone subsidiary financial statements

• 8–12 years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong background in SEC reporting, technical accounting, and internal controls
• Active CPA license
• Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills

• Prior experience in public accounting
• Background in the energy sector, particularly midstream or natural gas pipeline operations
• Experience working with large ERP systems and financial reporting platforms

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
