Senior Tax Accountant

Our client a Japanese Energy company is seeking a Senior Tax Accountant for their Houston office.

• Manage federal and state income tax compliance, including work papers and tax returns.
• Assist with quarterly and annual ASC 740 tax provision and reconciliation processes.
• Handle estimated tax payments, tax notices, and requests from tax authorities.
• Conduct tax research on partnerships, tax credits, M&A, financing, and other complex issues.
• Monitor federal and state tax law changes and prepare supporting tax memos.
• Prepare sales and use tax returns and review transaction taxability.
• Support property tax compliance, tax audits, and regulatory examinations.
• Maintain tax documentation and coordinate with external tax advisors on various tax matters.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of tax experience in public accounting, corporate tax, or both.
• Solid understanding of U.S. federal income tax, with exposure to state, local, and indirect taxes.
• Strong research, analytical, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
• Able to work independently, manage competing priorities, and collaborate across teams.
• Experience with ASC 740, state income/franchise taxes, partnerships, and Schedule K-1s is preferred.
• Background in tax audits, regulatory reviews, or energy-related industries is a plus.
• SAP/ERP experience and an active U.S. CPA or CPA candidacy are preferred.
