Payroll Tax Manager

Our client is seeking a Payroll Tax Subject Matter Expert to lead payroll tax compliance, settlements, garnishments, and payroll funding activities across a large, rapidly growing Fortune‑level organization. It’s an exceptional next step for a strong Sr. Payroll Tax Processor/Supervisor ready to move into a Management role. This position offers the chance to influence payroll tax strategy, compliance, settlements, and team leadership operations across a large, multi‑entity, high‑volume environment.

Location: Houston, TX - Jersey Village area 290 & Fairbanks

Compensation package: Base salary: $85,000 - $115,000, Discretionary bonus

Full ownership of payroll tax function

Multi-state and multi-entity payroll tax experience

Hands-on processing and filing: 941s, W-2s, tax calculations, state registrations, abatement letters

Experience supporting acquisitions and dispositions

Deep understanding of: federal, state, and local payroll taxes, payroll settlements, garnishments, year-end reporting

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

CPP or FPC certification

Workday experience

6+ years of payroll tax, settlement, and employment tax experience in a high-volume, multi-state, multi-entity environment

2+ years of leadership/management experience

Strong expertise in:

• Federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations
• Payroll settlements and reconciliations
• Garnishments and involuntary withholding
• Compliance and audit support

Proven ability to resolve complex payroll tax issues

Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical ability

High attention to detail and professionalism in handling confidential information
