Project Accountant

Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Billing Specialist to support billing and accounts receivable activities in a fast-paced, project-based environment. This position works closely with operations and accounting teams to ensure accurate invoicing, timely revenue recognition, and effective collections management.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, analytical, and comfortable managing multiple priorities while maintaining excellent attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

+ Review, verify, and process daily billing transactions

+ Generate and submit accurate customer invoices

+ Interpret contracts and apply billing terms accordingly

+ Monitor project progress to ensure timely billing and revenue recognition

+ Post daily and weekly revenue activity into reporting systems

+ Support accounts receivable functions, including collections and customer account maintenance

+ Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies and invoice disputes

+ Monitor aging reports and unbilled revenue reports

+ Assist with month-end close activities related to billing and revenue

+ Communicate with internal teams regarding timesheets, labor charges, and billing accuracy

+ Maintain accurate account records and customer balances

+ Participate in special projects and process improvement initiatives

Requirements

+ 3+ years of billing, accounts receivable, or related accounting experience

+

Experience with project-based billing, including Time & Materials (T& M), labor, and overhead billing

+ Understanding of contract-based invoicing and revenue processes

+

Experience with collections, reconciliations, and customer account management

+ Exposure to month-end close activities

+ Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills

+ Ability to manage competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment

Preferred Experience

+ Construction, industrial services, engineering, or other project-based industry experience

+ Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs

+

Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems

+ Knowledge of SOX-compliant environments

+ Strong analytical and communication skills
