Senior State and Local Tax Accountant

Harmer is actively recruiting for our Industrial client for newly created position for a Senior State & Local Tax Accountant to support multi-state tax compliance for a growing services organization. This position will have significant responsibility for sales & use tax, state income tax, property tax, taxability research, audits, and tax accounting
.

• Manage multi-state sales and use tax compliance
  , including return review, reconciliations, and transaction-level tax analysis.
• Reconcile general ledger tax accounts to the external sales tax platform.
• Research taxability and nexus requirements across multiple states and service lines.
• Review exemption certificates and resolve taxability and exemption issues.
• Manage sales and use tax audits
  , including documentation, responses, and interaction with taxing authorities and external advisors.
• Support state and local income tax compliance, including apportionment, estimated payments, extensions, notices, and correspondence
  .
• Support property tax compliance and reporting.
• Prepare sales/use tax accruals, journal entries, reserves, and balance sheet reconciliations
  .
• Identify opportunities to strengthen tax processes, controls, automation, and reporting.
• Partner with Accounting, Finance, IT, and Operations on tax-related matters.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 3–6+ years of sales/use tax, property tax, and/or state and local tax experience.
• Strong knowledge of multi-state sales and use tax requirements.
• Experience researching taxability and nexus across multiple jurisdictions. IsExpired": false}
