Accounts Payable Specialist

Description

Our client is looking for a high volume AP specialist to join their team on long term contract basis. This role will be a hybrid work schedule and work on a very large team.

Responsibilities:

- Process vendor invoices by preparing electronic and paper documents for entry into the accounts payable workflow and ensuring records are captured accurately.

- Investigate payment and invoice questions from plant personnel and external vendors, providing timely follow-up and clear resolution.

- Maintain vendor records and support payment operations, including checks, ACH transactions, wire activity, and check void processing.

- Create and update Excel spreadsheets and other reporting files to track accounts payable activity and support daily operations.

- Perform research within accounting and workflow systems to resolve discrepancies, verify coding, and support transaction processing.

- Organize, print, and retain accounts payable documentation and reports in accordance with recordkeeping expectations.

- Assist with month-end close activities and contribute to compliance with accounts payable policies, procedures, and approval controls.

- Provide support for additional accounts payable duties such as 1099-related tasks and invoice handling completed outside the primary workflow system.

Requirements

- Experience working in a high-volume accounts payable setting (300- 400 invoices daily) with measured productivity and accuracy expectations.

- Proficiency with accounts payable processes, account coding, vendor management, and core accounting functions.

- Hands-on experience with accounting software and ERP platforms, including SAP or similar systems.

- Familiarity with electronic payment methods such as ACH, checks, and wire transfers.

- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage priorities, stay organized, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

- Effective communication skills for working with vendors, teammates, and internal business partners.

- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills and experience with SAP is required
