Position DescriptionAs an Entry Level Automotive Technician, you will help keep Harris County Agencies on the road by providing top-tier customer service while performing preventative maintenance services for their vehicles. Through our training program, you will learn to change oil, check and refill fluids, rotate tires, test and replace batteries, inspect and replace lights and wipers, perform Multipoint safety inspections, and more.
You’ll work as a team to provide fast, easy, efficient, and trusted services to our customers and their fleet, investing in the community and your future.
- Assist other automotive technicians with the maintenance and repairs of Harris County vehicles.
- Communicate with parts department to obtain needed parts.
- Assist with vehicle multipoint inspections to determine if additional safety or service work is required.
- Assist in documenting any work performed.
- Complete web‑based training and in‑person classes to advance to become a main line automotive technician and learn a “fix it right the first‑time approach.”
- Ensure customers’ cars are kept clean.
- Account for all dealership‑owned tools.
- Assist in road‑testing vehicles and quality‑check work performed from vendors.

Requirements Education- High school diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited educational institution.
OR
- Entry‑level position requiring basic automotive knowledge and enrolled in an automotive program at an accredited school.
- Must maintain a valid Texas driver’s license.
- Must help maintain excellent customer satisfaction.
- Perform any additional task assigned by management.
- Work well with others in a diverse and high‑volume environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Move with a purpose in a high‑volume environment.
- Work independently on assigned tasks as well as accept direction on given assignments.
- Maintain a professional appearance and manner.
- Adhere to all County policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Degree or certificate from technical or trade school for automotive repair.
- ASE certifications.
- Experience in the automotive industry (dealership or shop environment).
- Regular full‑time.
- Must be available to work various shifts.
- Hot and cold conditions and/or tight places.
- Lift and/or move 50 lbs.
Employment may be contingent on passing a drug screen and meeting other standards.
