Earthwork Foreman at Calista Brice LLC (Brice Construction & Design LLC)

Overview

Brice Construction & Design LLC is a subsidiary of the Calista Corporation, a leading Alaska Native Corporation. We provide construction services across the full construction cycle, including heavy civil projects such as drainage, roadways, bridges, and stormwater management for federal, state, and local entities. As an SBA 8(a) participant, we have unique advantages in government contracting.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate mass and detailed excavation, grading, site preparation, Top Con, GPS setup, and machine troubleshooting.
  • Execute work plans and schedules per contract requirements, plans, and specifications.
  • Coordinate daily tasks, adjust plans for weather, supply, delivery, and personnel changes.
  • Ensure adequate staffing, resources, and equipment to meet project schedules, budgets, and safety requirements.
  • Provide regular status reports to supervisors, site engineers, and officials.
  • Coordinate materials and equipment delivery with vendors and suppliers.
  • Create schedules for workers and subcontractors.
  • Maintain a daily job‑site log and accurate reporting records (job quantities, productivity, timesheets).
  • Conduct regular inspections of crew work, adjust plans and schedules as needed, and report to project management.
  • Assist with skilled trades and general construction duties as needed to complete the project.
  • Train and develop crew members, promote morale, and ensure workplace safety.
  • Represent the company ethically and safety‑first during all job‑site activities.
  • Report incidents or situations that could affect safety, ethics, or profitability to the Field Civil Superintendent or Site Project Manager.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Expertise in skilled labor and carpentry/structural work per specifications.
  • Excellent communication skills for feedback and stakeholder coordination.
  • Adaptability to changing circumstances with strong decision‑making.
  • Problem‑solving ability and innovative thinking.
  • Teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Clear written communication skills.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum five years of experience in civil construction.
  • Minimum three years supervising a construction crew (Foreman or Lead).
  • Valid state driver’s license and ability to operate a vehicle under company policy.
  • Pass a drug, driving, and background screening.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of scheduling, material control, unit man‑hour performance, estimating fundamentals, and job‑cost management.
  • Experience in excavation and earth‑work management.
  • OSHA 30‑hour training completion.
  • Experience with federal government projects.
