Our project safety assistants are responsible for project‑wide safety and health administration including developing specific on‑site safety programs, performing safety audits, leading accident investigations, administering first aid when necessary, training personnel, and keeping project safety records.

• Administers Vaughn’s and Owner’s safety program requirements.
• Helps to develop specific on‑site programs, as required.
• Performs site audits for unsafe practices and conditions, makes recommendations and/or knows specific regulation on proper corrections.
• Leads/performs accident investigations.
• Trains personnel on proper safety procedures.
• Reports worker's compensation claims and performs onsite worker's compensation claims administration for Vaughn employees’ and trade contractor employees’ injuries.
• Performs record keeping/document control for HAZCOM, training etc., including various reports to Owner.
• Assists in developing and maintain hazard analysis documentation.
• Administers first aid, CPR, AED when necessary.
• Stays current on safety regulations.
• Performs other duties and services to ensure project is delivered successfully and client is satisfied.
• Maintains excellent attendance and punctuality.

• Minimum of six years of experience in construction safety, with a minimum of five years in building construction safety.
• Current OSHA 510 training within four years.
• Current emergency first aid, CPR, AED training within two years.
• Working knowledge, experience, and documented continuing education in fall protection, scaffolds, excavation, confined space, crane/equipment operations, electrical, and incident investigation.

• Ability to deal with a variety of people from craft workers to project Owners.
• Ability to maintain credibility with appropriate audiences each day.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must be bilingual or have means to translate between English and Spanish.
• Good organizational and planning skills.
• Strong computer skills including MS Office, Email, PDF.
