For more than 50 years, HDR has delivered award‑winning integrated healthcare planning and design for some of the world’s foremost medical centers and health systems.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Provide planning, design and coordination support on projects and pursuits
  • Engage in problem solving, teamwork, critical thinking, mathematical reasoning, and visualization to create accurate and detailed drawings
  • Prepare drawings and specification documents
  • Research, plan, design and administer building projects for clients, applying knowledge of design construction procedures, zoning and building codes, and building materials
  • Understand healthcare trends
  • Prepare health planning presentation drawings, diagrams, and narratives
  • Assist the coordination of all disciplines related to the building design and health planning
  • Mentor junior staff or other interested colleagues in health planning practices
  • Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Architecture
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in Health Architecture
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in Health Planning
  • Architectural registration
  • Strong computer skills (AutoCAD, REVIT, Rhino, MS Office, Blue Beam)
  • Advanced credentials desired (e.g. ACHA, LEED, EDAC, AICP etc.)
  • Willingness to travel
  • Knowledge and experience of healthcare architecture planning and design
  • Capability to make client presentations
  • Leadership and management skills
  • Detail‑oriented, self‑motivated, and flexible
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or closely related field
  • Minimum of 12 years related experience
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Knowledge of materials, methods and tools involved in building construction
  • Understanding of design techniques, tools and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, prints, drawings and models

Compensation ranges vary by location and experience, e.g., California: $120,736 – $203,840;
Colorado: $120,736 – $172,480;
Illinois: $120,736 – $172,480;
Massachusetts: $131,712 – $188,160;
Minnesota: $115,248 – $164,640;
New Jersey: $126,224 – $180,320;
New York: $137,200 – $196,000;
Washington State: $131,712 – $188,160.
