Job Description & How to Apply Below

C/V Architects is a full-service architecture and planning practice based in Houston. Founded on the principle of delivering highly specialized design solutions tailored to each client’s needs, our work is rooted in healthcare and extends across institutional, higher education, science and research, and interiors projects. We bring extensive experience in large-scale new construction, make-ready work, multi-phased developments, and complex renovations, while maintaining the personal attention, agility, and responsiveness of a small firm.

Collaboration, open communication, and exceptional service are fundamental to how we deliver quality work on schedule- and budget-sensitive projects.

About the Position

We are seeking an experienced Architectural Designer to join our Houston office. This position is ideal for a designer who is ready to take ownership of meaningful portions of a project while continuing to grow their technical, design, and project leadership skills. Working alongside project leaders and design team, this individual will contribute to healthcare, institutional, and interiors projects across a variety of scales, helping translate design concepts into coordinated, well-executed built work.

The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in architectural design and documentation, particularly in healthcare and institutional project types, a curiosity for how buildings and building systems come together, and a desire to contribute to both the creative and technical aspects of project delivery. They are comfortable coordinating across disciplines, communicating clearly with team members and consultants, and managing their work with increasing independence and accountability.

While day-to-day studio work is fully remote, this role regularly requires being on site for architectural work, including field observations, construction administration, client meetings, and project-related site visits.

Responsibilities
  • Contributing to the design and delivery of projects across a variety of scales, typologies, and phases, including SD, DD, CD, and CA
  • Developing design concepts and translating them into coordinated drawings, models, details, and construction documents for both interior and exterior systems
  • Preparing project documentation, specifications, and presentation materials in collaboration with project teams
  • Coordinating with consultants, including MEP, structural, security, and low-voltage, to maintain project alignment and documentation quality
  • Supporting construction administration efforts, including responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, and assisting with field observations
  • Taking ownership of assigned portions of a project while proactively communicating progress, questions, and potential coordination issues
  • Providing technical leadership on healthcare and institutional project types and contributing to QA/QC of documentation
  • Contributing to technical problem-solving and design discussions throughout the life of a project
  • Participating on multiple concurrent projects in various capacities
  • Mentoring junior staff and supporting a collaborative studio culture
Job Requirements
  • 3–7 years of professional experience in architecture, including design and construction document production for healthcare, institutional, commercial, or interiors projects, preferably in the Houston area
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Architecture from an accredited university.
  • Architectural registration strongly preferred, or actively in the process of attaining licensure
  • Ability to work from our Houston, TX office as needed in a hybrid arrangement
  • Proficiency in Revit, BIM 360, AutoCAD, Enscape, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Working knowledge of architectural practice, including design, documentation, detailing, building materials, building codes, and construction techniques.
  • Demonstrated design ability and a strong portfolio of academic and professional work.
  • Strong technical skills, creative problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and graphic communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and contribute effectively across multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Positive attitude, intellectual curiosity, and willingness to collaborate within a team environment.
  • Goal-oriented, self-starting approach to project work.
