JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Physician will be responsible for providing care to endocrinology patients. Primary clinical duties include evaluating, treating, and managing patients. The role also involves requesting care for acute issues and screening for chronic diseases. Additionally, the physician will supervise mid-level providers (Nurse Practitioners/Physician Assistants) involved in adult patient care.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Maintain regularly scheduled hours as per the Service Agreement and actively see patients in the Clinic.
- Collaborate with medical schools and residency programs involved in Clinic activities.
- Develop methods to assess the quality of clinical services, emphasizing medical care.
- Be available during regular Clinic hours and after hours if assistance is needed.
- Assist in reviewing and developing patient educational materials.
- Supervise healthcare students assigned to the Clinic for educational purposes.
- Participate in planning for future clinical operations, focusing on interdisciplinary team-oriented care.
- Establish and maintain a clinical quality assurance program.
- Develop and update clinical diagnostic and treatment protocols.
- Participate in recruiting and retaining providers and clinical staff.
- Engage in research activities.
- Attend scheduled service line meetings.
- Supervise mid-level providers and mentor students.
- Contribute knowledge, techniques, and patient recruitment for research projects when available.
- Assist in data analysis, interpretation, and publication of research findings.
- Participate in the Performance Improvement Program.
- Interview and advise patients on health and illness prevention, including voluntary family planning and preventative health services, in compliance with funding, legal, and regulatory requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education & Training Requirements:
- Board certified or eligible in Endocrinology.
- Medical Doctor with current licensure.
- Participate in Medicare, Medicaid, workers’ compensation, and other federal and state reimbursement programs, along with commercial insurance plans.
- DEA license.
- BLS (CPR & AED) certification.
- Ability to meet Legacy Community Health’s EPIC proficiency requirements.
Work Experience Requirement:
- Previous experience in a community healthcare setting.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize tasks.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience, including fellowship training.
