The Department of Family and Community Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) is seeking a primary care provider faculty member to join our team, which is committed to providing care to diverse and underserved populations in the Greater Houston and Harris County area. This position will provide direct patient care services at Gulfgate Health Center, one of our affiliate facilities. In this facility, you will have access to multiple specialty care providers, which by working together, will help to improve the overall well‑being of our patients. Currently this facility is designated as a patient‑centered medical home by NCQA and provides comprehensive medical services.

This position provides leadership and supervision to physicians who provide medical care at Gulfgate Health Center. This position will act as a role model and lead in an interdisciplinary, collaborative team approach to ensure delivery of high‑quality, safe care. You will create a culture of excellence in clinical care, education, research, evidence‑based practices, and continuous performance improvement.

Medical Director duties include leading regular medical staff meetings, representing clinic faculty, and actively participating in key health system and medical school committees. The Medical Director will oversee recruitment, onboarding, performance feedback, and professional development for providers while supporting local performance improvement initiatives. In collaboration with Harris Health triad leadership, the Medical Director also manages provider scheduling and ensures alignment with organizational guidelines.

The Medical Director will also have oversight of the stakeholder experience (patient and physician satisfaction), and clinical excellence (education, research, and quality). Duties also include direct patient care and, if desired, educating medical students and participating in clinical research.

Education and Training: M.D. or D.O.;
Residency training in Family Medicine.

Experience:

A minimum of 3 years practice experience is required.

Certification/Licenses/Registration:
License from the Texas Medical Board and Board Certification in Family Medicine are required. Baylor allows a grace period of four years from residency graduation date to pass the boards.
