The Medical Intensive Care Unit has the highest acuity medicine patients in the city of Houston. The primary patient population involves complex pulmonary issues, in addition to high level sepsis and end stage renal disease. All MICU nurses are trained in Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT). The Pulmonary Critical Care attending physicians and nurse relationship is one of the strongest in the hospital and the physicians are readily available.
We strive for excellent outcomes and have robust quality initiatives. MICU has unparalleled teamwork, nursing is very autonomous and have daily opportunities to learn.
