Overview
The Department of Anesthesiology & Perioperative Medicine at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas is recruiting an anesthesiologist over the next 6-12 months. This is a full-time academic anesthesiology position at the rank of assistant professor, clinical faculty appointment (CFA), and will initially carry a 90% clinical effort. Fellowship specialty training with experience in academic anesthesiology is strongly preferred.
Assistant Professors are expected to have at minimum 2 years as Instructor or at minimum 4 years post degree with any combination of time as a clinician, clinical scientist or GME trainee. New faculty members should be board certified in Anesthesiology by the American Board of Anesthesiology (or approved foreign equivalent) and be actively participating in the Maintenance of Certification Program, or in the ABA examination system.
An unrestricted Texas medical license in good standing is required before onboarding.
- Deliver clinical anesthesia care as a principal component of a 90% clinical effort for an academic anesthesiology program.
- Participate in scholarly activity and contribute to the academic mission of the department.
- Support departmental teaching, residency/fellowship education, and quality/safety initiatives as appropriate.
- Maintain the security and integrity of critical infrastructure as defined by applicable policy; comply with related requirements as a condition of hire and continued employment.
- Board certification in Anesthesiology by the American Board of Anesthesiology (or approved foreign equivalent).
- Active participation in the Maintenance of Certification Program or ABA examination system.
- Unrestricted Texas medical license in good standing before onboarding.
- Fellowship training with experience in academic anesthesiology is strongly preferred.
- Minimum experience as required for Assistant Professor rank (2 years as Instructor or 4 years post-degree with relevant clinical/scientific/GME training).
Target base salary range: $426,333 to $476,540. Eligibility for incentive compensation, comprehensive health, wellness, time off, savings and retirement benefits, and relocation assistance, as applicable.
