ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:
This is a faculty position responsible to the Chairman, Department of Urology who reports to the Head of the Division of Surgery.
GENERAL DUTIES:
Provides clinical expertise in patient care management with emphasis in Urologic cancers. Has a specific interest and expertise in Prostate Cancer. The practice location is primarily in the MDACC Texas Medical Center location. Secondary locations may include the MDACC Northwest Surgery Center and future MDACC Houston Area Location surgery centers. Provides an appropriate teaching environment for fellows, residents, and students in the specialty of Urology.
Provides expertise in clinical and/or translational research.
CHARACTERISTIC
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serve on institutional committees as requested by attending appropriate meetings which may include walking or driving to each meeting site. Listen to deliberations and provide verbal feedback as necessary. Visually review all documents pertaining to committee functions.
II. Patient CareProvide state-of-the-art Urologic Oncology surgery for patients with GU malignancies with a specific interest in Prostate Cancer.
III. Education/TeachingProvide a balanced and integrated educational program in Urologic Oncology principles and techniques.
Attend and participate in Division/Department teaching and continuing education conferences, which requires verbal interaction with colleagues.
IV. ResearchActively engage in or facilitate clinical research and scholarly activity to enhance the academic environment of the Department at the main campus.
Develop programs of clinical research and scholarly activities in keeping within the goals of the Department. Requires the ability to synthesize a myriad of information pertaining to the area of research.
May necessitate (orally or in writing) instructing research support personnel in protocol implementation.
V. ServiceRepresent the Department of Urology in local, regional, state, and national matters. May require traveling to sites outside of the Houston area and, upon return, disseminating the information obtained or learned by sharing with department colleagues verbally or in writing.
Participate in community-based tumor boards, disease-specific conferences and other such meetings. Represent MD Anderson at community events, educational forums, and among referring physician groups across the region.
Practice clinical medicine in an exemplary manner in standards set forth by the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners, and the American College of Physicians, properly balanced with other academic activities.

- a. Provide physician staffing for the Urology Department at a level commensurate with that which would be provided by other physicians with the same level of training and experience.
- b. Visually review for proper ICD-9, ICD-10, and CPT coding and approve all charge documents within 5 working days. Utilization of electronic billing applications as available and supported by institution.
- c. Complete patient documentation for medical records within time frames provided by institutional and local hospital policies. Will require dictating in a clear and concise manner, and visual review of documents.
