McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, a leading academic health center, invites applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE), non-tenure clinical track Assistant Professor (Trauma) position in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery.
The selected candidate will contribute to the department’s mission to educate health science professionals, discover and translate advances in the biomedical and social sciences, and model the best practices in clinical care and public health through research, teaching, clinical service, administrative activities, and other services.
Position Key AccountabilitiesThe Assistant Professor in Orthopedic Surgery will participate in research, teaching, clinical service, administrative and other activities.
Responsibilities- Participating in the UTOrtho practice at Lyndon
B. Johnson Hospital (LBJ). - Collaborating with other physicians within the department and University.
- Being involved in the recruitment, selection, and hiring of new or additional physicians to the group.
- Providing feedback regarding office operations including hiring staff, office logistics, and new physician recruitment.
- Participating in the education and training of medical students and residents.
- Facilitating reasonable and appropriate access to patients by research staff.
- Assisting when requested with a collection of research data including biological specimens.
- Providing information and education on ongoing research studies to potentially eligible research subjects.
The candidate must possess a Texas Medical License or be eligible for a Texas Faculty Temporary License.
We require board certification/board eligibility through the American Board of Surgeons.
Qualified applicants must demonstrate a commitment to excellence, discovery, and service, have the potential to be outstanding in their field of expertise, and share an interest in fulfilling the common goals of McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston. Preferred applicants will possess an advanced fellowship in trauma and demonstrate skills such as excellent communication and interpersonal skills with strong potential for a leadership role within the department.
