Job Description

Purpose and Scope: Provide learning activities and support that lead to the achievement of course objectives and contribute to the educational environment. This includes planning, developing, and teaching courses.

Adjunct faculty are hired in a part‑time capacity on a semester‑by‑semester basis and may teach up to five classes per academic year.

Essential Job Functions
  • Teach Vocational Nursing courses at various times and locations.
  • Create engaging lessons that promote student involvement.
  • Submit required college reports and forms in a timely manner.
  • Utilize a course syllabus for each course, following institutional guidelines.
  • Meet with and advise students before or after class or by appointment, electronic communication, or other appropriate methods.
  • Evaluate students to measure progress and inform them in a timely manner.
  • Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community.
  • Attend meetings, trainings, and orientations as required.
  • Perform other reasonable related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Mastery of course content.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with a collaborative, teamwork, and facilitation style.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to appreciate alternative viewpoints and work effectively with a wide variety of people.
  • Interest in interdisciplinary teaching, service learning, learning technologies, and adult learning methodologies.
  • Commitment to academic excellence, service, and a dynamic climate for lifelong learning.
  • Ability to develop and implement instructional approaches such as service learning, civic engagement, learning communities, and effective use of technology.
  • Ability to engage students using effective strategies.
Physical Abilities
  • Work requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing, walking over uneven surfaces, bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or lifting moderately heavy items.
Work Schedule And Conditions
  • Equipment used includes PC workstation, calculator, phone, and general office equipment.
  • Interact with internal and external contacts as needed.
  • Work in climate‑controlled classroom/lab with typical safety hazards.
  • Hours vary; instructors must meet classes at all scheduled times and be available to students outside instruction.
Required Qualifications
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing and 3 years of non‑teaching work experience in the field.
  • Current unencumbered Texas RN license.
Compensation

$55.44 per contact hour.
