Position Title: Executive Director or Co-Director, Rice Center for Transforming Data to Knowledge (D2K Lab)

The Rice Center for Transforming Data to Knowledge, informally called the D2K Lab, seeks applicants for the position of Executive Director or Co-Director. The D2K Lab is a new center within the George R. Brown School of Engineering at Rice University in Houston, TX.

Mission: The D2K Lab aims to provide students with immersive, experiential learning opportunities in data science, enhance data-intensive research at Rice, and build partnerships with companies, institutions, and community organizations. This involves curricular and co-curricular programs connecting students to real-world data science problems from partners and clients. The Lab collaborates closely with data science departments in the School of Engineering and integrates experiential learning courses into existing or new academic programs.

Responsibilities: The Executive Director or Co-Director will oversee all activities to implement the Lab's strategic vision, provide visionary leadership, and manage operations. They will foster internal partnerships within Rice and externally with industry, government, and community organizations. Optional involvement in teaching and curriculum development is encouraged.

Qualifications: A PhD in a relevant quantitative field with at least ten years of experience, and a strong record in data science leadership. Candidates with experience in data science education, applied research, or industry management are especially encouraged to apply.
