Purpose and Scope

Provide learning activities and support to achieve course objectives, contributing to the educational environment of the college and the community. Plan, develop, and teach courses within the curriculum in a manner that facilitates student learning.

Essential Job Functions
  • Teach Continuing Education courses in the Certified Nursing Aide Program.
  • Develop and utilize a course syllabus for each course following institutional guidelines.
  • Instruct students in lecture, on‑site laboratory, and off‑site clinical facilities, correlating theory with practice for state certification preparation.
  • Comply with Texas Department of Health and Human Services (TDHHS) state requirements and program expectations.
  • Perform ongoing written student evaluations and administer written tests based on lecture/lab materials, providing oral and written feedback.
  • Evaluate students by various means to measure progress toward course objectives and inform them timely.
  • Submit required college reports and forms.
  • Provide timely, quality access to students through office hours, electronic communication, and other methods.
  • Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community.
  • Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned.

Physical Abilities
  • Ability to use fingers and hands for picking, pinching, typing.

  • Ability to push, pull, squat, turn, twist, bend, and stoop.
  • Ability to receive detailed oral communication and discriminate in sound.
  • Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
  • Ability to give detailed spoken instructions accurately, loudly, or quickly.
  • Close visual acuity for preparing and analyzing data, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, and extensive reading.
Work Schedule & Conditions
  • Equipment: PC workstation on a LAN, calculator, phone, and general office equipment.
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed.
  • Work performed in a climate‑controlled office with minimal safety hazards.
  • Hours vary by class time; instructors must meet all scheduled class times and be available to students outside classes.
Required Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) licensed in Texas.
  • At least two years of nursing experience.
  • Completed adult teaching course or adult teaching experience or experience supervising Nurse Aides.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Healthcare or a related field.
  • Previous Charge Nurse experience in a long‑term care facility, or at least one year providing long‑term care services in a nursing facility.
Salary

$55.44 per contact hour.
