Adjunct Faculty, Developmental Math

Job Description

Purpose and Scope: The teaching faculty are responsible for providing learning activities and support that lead to the achievement of course objectives and contribute to the educational environment of the college and the community. Primary responsibilities include planning, developing, and teaching courses within the curriculum to facilitate student learning.

• Teach Developmental Math courses at various times and locations.
• Create engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of material.
• Submit required college reports and forms in a timely manner.
• Utilize a course syllabus for each course, following institutional guidelines.
• Meet with and advise students via appointments, electronic communication, or other appropriate methods.
• Evaluate students to measure progress in achieving course objectives and inform them of their progress in a timely manner.
• Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community.
• Attend meetings, trainings, and orientations as required.
• Perform other reasonable related duties as assigned.

• Ability to appreciate alternative viewpoints and work effectively with a wide variety of people.

• Ability to use effective strategies to engage students in their learning.

• Work is sedentary; may involve walking, standing, bending, carrying light items, and driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required.

• Use of PC workstation, calculator, phone, and standard office equipment.
• Interface with internal and external contacts as needed.
• Work performed in a climate‑controlled classroom/lab with minimal safety hazards.
• Hours vary by class time; instructors must meet scheduled times and be available to students outside of instruction.

• Bachelor’s degree or higher with a minimum of 12 undergraduate credit hours in mathematics or statistics.

$55.44 per contact hour.
