SummaryProvide expertise and knowledge that supports the college curriculum and programs. Establish courses following higher‑education standards, teach using effective methodologies, and provide engagement and support activities that encourage student learning. The role encompasses teaching and learning, academic advising, professional development, and institutional and community service.
Faculty is expected to teach a full load each semester as defined in the Faculty Workload Guidelines, demonstrate expertise and experience in classroom teaching, and may be required to teach at various locations in the District.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Teaching: Demonstrate skill and knowledge in teaching the discipline. Continuously improve instruction using innovative methodologies and delivery methods. Develop and use a syllabus for each course, plan diverse teaching methods, evaluate student progress, maintain accurate records, recommend textbooks, use equipment responsibly, and explore new instructional technologies.
- Academic Advising: Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community. Provide access through office hours, electronic communication, and other methods. Offer guidance on instructional, program‑specific, and career matters; present academic field information; and collaborate on advising activities.
- Professional Development: Establish annual professional growth objectives, stay current with discipline developments, apply student‑learning technologies, and participate in evaluation processes for self, department, and college.
- Institutional and Community Service: Participate in scheduled service activities, committee meetings, department and college meetings, policy adherence, recruitment events, accreditation activities, and planning processes. Review and revise program curricula to ensure compliance with professional and state standards.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required;
Master’s degree preferred. Licensed Physical Therapist or Physical Therapist Assistant in Texas or eligible for licensure in Texas. - Experience: Three years of current professional clinical work in physical therapy; preferred two years of experience as a center coordinator, clinical instructor, or in teaching, curriculum development, or administration in a physical therapist program.
